About the Author
Sabatini received his Doctorate degree in nuclear engineering from the University of Rome in 1973. He is now head of the Multifunction Radar Department at Alenia Sistemi Difesa in the Radar and C2 Systems Division.

Tarantino received his Doctorate degree in electronic engineering from the Univeristy of Rome in 1977.

An excellent text providing great insight into MFAR design

It is not written for someone who is new to radar. If you already have a good working knowledge of basic radar theory and applications and want to learn more about what goes into the design of an MFAR and why various parameters are chosen based on an MFAR's requirements, this is an excellent and very accessible text on the subject. It provides excellent insight into a number of such topics that aren't covered well in other books.

This book discusses the multifuction array radar (MFAR) from the view-point of architectural system analysis and design. It discusses the process of designing an MFAR from requirement analysis to the selection of main radar parameters. It provides an excellent introduction to the system analysis and design process for an MFAR.

This book will be of particular interest to those who want further understanding of the theory behind the design of an MFAR for air and missile defense applications and is, in fact, geared toward such applications.

I recommend this text along with Billetter's, Jeffrey's, but only after gaining a thorough understanding of radar fundamentals in works such as Skolnik's and Edde's.

To me, the perfect radar book for many defense contractors would be an amalgam of this one with Billetter's and Jeffry's, with a healthy coverage of directly applicable material from the fundamentals in works such as Skolnik's and Edde's.

There is a handy "Symbols" section in the back of the book that provides a summary of the symbols used throughout the book. It is not 100% complete but is pretty close. And the text is consistent in the use of the symbols, though there are some discrepancies in the case used for letters in subscripts but this is not an issue.

The mathematics used throughout the text is very clear. It is a very accessible text but, as I stated previously, you should have read works such as Skolnik's and/or Edde's first. While not a "beginner's book", the insight that it will provide into why different parameters are chosen for an MFAR will be valuable to the reader and are, in fact, interesting.

I have provided the table of contents below since even the publisher fails to provide the complete contents on their website.

I would very much recommend this text as a good addition to your bookshelf. You will enjoy it.
