About the Author
Dr. Alex Mustard has been taking underwater photographs for 30 years and has been a full-time underwater photographer for the past 10 years. Previously, he worked as a marine biologist at the UK's National Oceanography Centre. His photographs have won many awards including, on five occasions, the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year. He has also won multiple categories in the British Wildlife Photography Awards. In 2013, Alex was named GDT European Wildlife Photographer of the Year.

Invaluable Information, Beautifully Delivered

Such a beautifully written book: "And as a photographer {underwater} we have the freedom to hover above a coral landscape and to soar through a kelp forest. We can move freely in three dimensions, endowing us with a massive choice of photographic viewpoints. Imagine how photographs on land would be transformed if every photographer could fly." - Introduction p.6
Alex captures the essence of what it means to not only be an underwater photographer, but to explore the ocean. He teaches how to develop the best possible skills for the circumstances one finds oneself in while creating images in an underwater environment. There are many tips here that can benefit even the most accomplished photographer, yet are valuable for the beginner as well. Very well done, Dr. Alex Mustard.

Best UW photography book ever!

This is without a doubt the best book ever written on UW photography! I've been shooting UW for over a decade but this book still has plenty of relevant advice/tips and importantly, loads of motivation to get me thinking of new ways to shoot. Outstanding!
