Great Book

I am a student at Ferris State. My professor told us that he has had many books in his International Business class and that this one is by far the best and recommended that we keep it when the semester is over rather than sell it. It is very easy to follow and there are tons of interesting stories and graphics that go along with the reading. I like the book and I have been getting A's on all of my quizzes because it really is easy to understand and follow.

Great textbook, very broad in scope.

This textbook covers a lot, and well. I had a class this semester that used it, and this text was the highlight. I am definitely keeping it after the class is over.

The only problem is that authors spend a lot of time discussing the inner working of entities that only marginally affect the life of international businesses, like the European Union, the IMF and the World Bank. These are important organizations, but they move at a very different pace than businesses.

This is a well-written textbook, full of interesting and unusual examples of international business within the global context. The authors have done their homework and give thoughtul coverage to the structure of business in individual countries and to national and world agencies that affect change in dominant and emerging markets. Their understanding of cultural differences that affect business is impressive. The book is attractively set up and useful.

Simply a great social history

Simply a great social history! We are witness to a revival of interest among historians in reexamining Spiritualism and its impact on society. Long ignored by academics as unworthy of study, Mark A. Lause's book goes toward remedying this by examining primary sources and providing a panoramic view of the impact Spiritualism had on American society in the mid-19th century. Spiritualists were the psychonauts of consciousness exploration, and pioneers in progressive movements that sought to make America a more egalitarian society. I don't think we realize today the significant impact Spiritualism had on American society, this influence for the good extended from education, women's rights, abolition, prison reform, care for the mentally ill, child labor reform, and nursing. In some small pockets it deviated into some silly ventures, such as free love communes, failed efforts at intentional communities, wrong headed dietary and clothing reform. Yet it's commitment to societal reform that uplifted all people is its enduring legacy.

The Civil War tested the mettle of American society, and Spiritualists stepped up to serve in the military as well as assist on the home front to alleviate the suffering and deprivation of thousands. It must be understood that President and Mrs. Lincoln, though not members of any Spiritualist movement were among those seeking to understand the mysteries of consciousness, attending and even hosting s�ances at the White House, President Lincoln's compassion and tenacity in the struggle were inspired in part by spiritualist literature and advisors.

Dr. Stephan Hoeller, has characterized religious movements as either revelatory, which identifies a divine event that occurred at some remote point in human history and all exoteric expressions of that event throughout time are mere variations & commentaries on this singular event This leads to a static world view. The other religious expression Hoeller identifies as gnostic, in which the divine is ever present and revealing itself through the communion of God and humankind. Brenda Novak's stunning debut novel, OF NOBLE BIRTH, is a fast-paced historical romance, a High Seas adventure with walk-off-the-page characters so vital they'll steal your heart from the first page! This is one I could not put down. Ms. Novak pulls out all the stoppers, proving herself to be a most skilled wordsmith with her vivid portrayal of characters, time and place. Darkly handsome but marred Nathaniel Kent comes boldly alive, making our hearts race as we follow him along the path to attaining his life-mission: exacting revenge on his noble but utterly cold father. Seamstress Alexandra Cogsworth is his ideal match, and as with Nathaniel, Ms. Novak has created an endearing character, one you'll root for from the moment she walks onto the page. This is one novel without any flaws, everything works just right, casting a magical spell as you read. Ms. Novak sweeps you so thoroughly into her character's lives and world, you'll imagine yourself right there with them. I could almost breathe in the tangy salt air, picture myself aboard Nathaniel's ship, even half-expected to see his shipmates standing in the shadows as I read -- so real are these story-people. This book was unique. The main characters were so real, I couldn't put it down. Lots of twists and surprises and a great theme. This is not a novel where you skip to the good parts because it's all good. I can't wait for Ms. Novak's next book!

A True Historical Romance

While I read several of the reviews, the one deemed Most Helpful Critcal Reveiw is grossly unfair. I know, I know, no one said life is fair.

I found this to be a good solid historical romance. There was not anything in way of blantant sex or other context that shows up in many of these novels which for the time period seems inappropriate. It required you in many cases to supply your own details from the imagination.

I love Alexander the lowly seamtress paired with the Pirate of Noble birth, Nathanial. I found the idea of his infirmity novel, and his strength of body and character so strong you forgot he was flawed.

I hated his father the Duke and his brother right on cue as these stories dicatate, and felt simpathy for Nathanials mother and the second wife. I like Lady Ann his half sister although she played a very small part of the story.

I loved ending and Alexander's compassion, in the end for the old sick Duke, or was it a tiny bit of revenge. You decide.

All in all I thought it was a good rendering for the time period and I enjoyed it very much. I believe it was worth the time and the money.

I would recommend it.
